3. STATE JOINT LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACCOUNT
In compliance with the “Monitoring of Revenue
Allocation to Local Government Act 2005” recently signed into law by the
President, the Commission has deployed its Commissioners to all the States of
the Federation. Each commissioner was deployed to a state other than his state
of origin to monitor the implementation of the Act. As from Tuesday 28th
June 2005, the Commission would actively participate in the State Joint Local
Government Account Allocation Committee. The Commission, in this regard,
resolved to ensure strict observance of transparency and fairness in the
distribution of funds from the State Joint Local Government Account.
We
therefore, wish to seek for the maximum cooperation and understanding of all the
stakeholders on this all-important constitutional assignment.
The Commission is happy to note the improvement in
the transparency and accountability in the operation of the nation’s financial
affairs and hopes that it would be sustained.
We
will like to thank the members of the press for their usual cooperation.
Thank you very much and May God bless you all.
