PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEES OF RMAFC 2005

 The President and Commander in Chief, Chief Olusegun Obsanjo has nominated the Chairman and members of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission to the National Assembly for confiormation, in his letter read by Senate President Adolphus Wabara, with reference no PRES/134 dated January 28, 2005, Mr. President  noted that  RMAFC is one of the Federal Executive Bodies established under Section 153(1) of the 1999 Constitution. By the provision of Part 1(N) of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution, the Commission shall comprise the Chairman and one member from each State of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.   Section 155(1) of the 1999 Constitution and Section 4 of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission Act CAP 392, of the 29th December 1989 provide that a member of the Commission shall hold office for a term of five (5) years from the date of his appointment. In this connection, the President added the tenure of the Chairman and twenty eight (28) other members of the Commission expired on 21st September 2004.

            Chief Obasanjo said that he has, therefore, in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, decided to appoint the following as Chairman and Commissioners in the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission:

 The President said in line with the provision of Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution which states that the appointment shall be subject to confirmation by the Senate, he hereby presents the twenty nine (29) nominees for confirmation by the Senate.
